7th LAVERDA FREUNDE ÖSTERREICH-Rally 2012

On Saturday, 1 September 2012, the weather was not with us. Rain, rain and even more rain – not just in Maria Schutz, but all over Austria. This resulted in the smallest number of participants of annual meeting in the history of the LAVERDA FREUNDE (here’s a bit of a rebuke to all those who chickened out due to the weather!).

The heroes of the meeting were arguably Alfred Wais, who arrived on his 750 SF from the Waldviertel (a region in Lower Austria) and Hannes Hämmerle. At home in Vienna Hannes loaded his LAVERDA 1000 3C, which he has been rebuilding over the last five years, onto the trailer, drove to Maria Schutz and immediately took the bike for a test ride, without taking heed of the rain. Well done, Hannes! Afterwards he was the world’s happiest LAVERDA-rider – LAVERDA, legal dope!

Donat and Sepp came from Carinthia and brought a Zanè 750 Formula.

Björn Rumpler, publican of the inn “Zum Auerhahn” spoiled us with excellent dishes and drinks until well after midnight.

Sunday morning and not a cloud in the sky: while we were enjoying our “liquid breakfast” in the garden, we were joined by Franz Rath, Robert “Härtling” Gruber, Erwin Rascher and Horst Scheuer.

This year we missed many LAVERDA-Friends – still had a great time – and we are looking forward to the next rally.
