14th International Rupert Hollaus Memorial Race at the Red Bull Ring, Spielberg/Styria, 24.–25. 6. 2017

Heat and rain at the Red Bull Ring: Whilst practice and qualifying on Saturday took place in scorching 35deg. of a typical midsummer day in Central Europe, Sunday showed the other side of the medal. The main races were held in the dry, but the sprint races drowned in the rain.

There were two LAVERDA riders in the field. Horst Scheuer with his classic 1200 and our Bavarian friend Willi Werndl with his LAVERDA 1000 and a 750 Zane racer.

In practice and qualifying (Class: Historic motorcycles over 750cc, 1970 - 1990), Willi was markedly ahead of Horst (Willi 11th, Horst 14th). In the race however, the picture got reversed: Horst finished 11th whilst Willi was having problems with his rear brake and only finished 18th.

Many thanks to all who joined us and a special 'thank you' to Erich Müllegger for his superb on-board pictures.
