There's always something going on in the Zettl workshop!
Christian describes his most recent project like this: "The basis for my LAVERDA rig was a 1979 LAVERDA SF3. My aim was to keep the originality and the character of the bike whilst at the same time building a rig for everyday use."
The rig uses a Velorex sidecar which was adapted to the look of the LAVERDA with paint-job, pinstripes and wheel.
The wheel for the sidecar is an original LAVERDA SF3 front wheel, creating an optical entity between motorcycle and sidecar.
For increased safety and stability a disc brake was fitted to the wheel of the sidecar.
The sidecar is mounted to the motorcycle via a custom-built sub-frame. Lasting changes to the original frame or other essential elements of the motorcycle were avoided and thus the original character of the LAVERDA 750 SF3 was retained to a great extent.
The result is a technically sophisticated rig, combining classical Italian motorcycle technology with the “practical/impractical“ advantages of a sidecar whilst at the same time honouring the historical value of the vehicle.
We congratulate Christian und Karl on this modification and are curious to learn whether this LAVERDA rig will pass a roadworthy test without greater problems.
